Dogecoin’s Upcoming 1.46.6 Update Will Come With Many Changes

Dogecoin is about to get a new update, which has been shared by a Twitter handle even before its release. The handle has also shared the GitHub link for this upcoming update of the project. This update of the Dogecoin project is 1.14.6, which is expected to be released only this summer. This update will include changes to improve wallet protection, fixing loopholes in the security part of DOGE, fixing known Bitcoin (BTC) loopholes, making the use of Dogecoin’s core wallet cheaper, and improving the handling of address messages.

Features are divided into ‘MUST HAVEs’, ‘SHOULD HAVEs’, and ‘COULD HAVEs’

Dogecoin News watch handles Doge Whisperer shared the details of Dogecoin’s upcoming 1.46.6 update in a tweet on June 5. The tweet reveals that DodgeCoin’s upcoming update 1.14.6 release plan has been written by the project’s core developer, Patrick Lodder. The handle has also shared a screenshot, in which information about the changes in the update has been given.

The changes are divided into three categories in this screenshot, which include ‘MUST HAVEs’, ‘SHOULD HAVEs’, and ‘COULD HAVEs’. There are changes in ‘Must Haves’ that need to be fixed before the update is released. There are changes in ‘Should Haves’ that don’t need to be added in this update, but still, the team will have to do their best to add them. Lastly, there are ‘Could Haves’, which are changes that don’t necessarily have to happen but may be included in this update or the next updates.

Enhanced wallet security and better handling of address messages will be included

Coming to the changes, the screenshot shows that the much-needed changes include enhanced wallet security, fixes for potential DOGE vulnerabilities, fixes for known Bitcoin (BTC) vulnerabilities, cheaper use of the Dogecoin Core wallet, and address messaging, and more. Includes better handling and easier-to-use Gitian scripts.

The less urgent plans include dependency updates, a critical cleanup, etc. Talking about ‘nice to have’ elements, these include increased system performance and secret entropy, improved clean-up modules, and cleanup of compilation.
